Appiah Deal Moves Close

Representatives of Appiah claim the players future will be settled after the international break. Portsmouth are one of the favourites to sign the midfielder after a break down in negotiations with Juventus.

He has recently been linked with Arsenal and West Ham, with two more clubs emerging today in Bayern Munich and Schalke.

The Ghana captain had a horrid season last year. Injury forced him to miss the majority of it. Having said that if he keeps himself fit and Portsmouth can get him signed, he could possible be one of Harry's best free transfer signings of all time.

We could certainly do with him, while we are coping with a paper thin midfield, we already have Kranjcar and Thomas out long term any more injuries and we would have problems.

Personally can't see it happening at all. Firstly, I think if it was going to happen then it would have already. Secondly, we are supposedly strapped for cash right now and whilst Appiah is allegedly a 'free agent' he will command a hefty signing fee and also will be a huge addition to the wage bill. I aint gonna happen anytime soon. I really do think we've missed the boat with this one (as we have with quite a few already it seems this year).
