Does Sacha NEED to Sell?

Can Pompey compete with Manchester City? Financially no we can't! Their owner is fifty times richer than Chelsea's owner. Granted it's going to take them a long time to build a team that will compete for a title but with that spending power may only be a year before they join the top four.

Newcastle are up for sale, what's the chances of the trend continuing with a foreign billionaire taking them over. My only concern is Portsmouth are left behind and all this hard work is un-done by quick fix takeovers.

Portsmouth are a well run club, I don't think we're in danger of being relegated in the near future but I do think we are in danger of standing still. Firstly I think it's unfair and I'd like to see a cap on the amount that can be invested. There is no rule preventing this though so if you can't compete with them why not join them?

Many fans would say that they wouldn't want to see a billionaire at our club. How many of those would say that if some of the world's greatest players were playing at Fratton Park? That would be interesting to see.

This article is by no means criticism to Sacha who has done wonders for this football club since he took over from Milan. Having said that why Man City went out and spent forty million on two players, Portsmouth had to balance their books with the sale of two top midfield players.

Would an investment from abroad be such a bad thing?

I would think if sacha needs to seel he will wait until planning permission is given for the stadium first as we are then much more of a going concern

I hope he does not need to sell as he has been very very good for the club. A statement of intent would be good to clear things up

The Man City owner is not 50 times richer than the Chelsea owner.  He runs a fund that has an asset base that is 50 times Abramovic’s wealth.  This fund cannot be liquidated in the same manner as Romans wealth.

Need no, infact I'm not totally sure we need to spend a small fortune on players, as long as we have a manager that can get the best out of them.

As others have pointed out in the past as long as we can keep our Premier League status is the new stadium thats more important with the extra revenue that can generate we perhaps can push forward until then we can not only not complete financially with the big boys we may even have problems competiting with the mid table clubs.

Where Pompey do have an advantage is that we are seen as a club going forward and players turn down other clubs to come to us.

Just remember money can buy you the best players but it cant buy you the best team.

There's two sides to this really. If we were sold and bought by a bigger company, we'd have a load more money to get more world-class players in. We could elevate ourselves to easy reach of consistent top four finishes.

And I'd hate that. It feels like cheating to me. Look at teams like Chelsea. They've got where they are now because of all the money pumped into them by Roman. I can't stand them, because of that sole reason. They've bought their way into the top.

Anyway, even if Sacha sold pompey to a bigger organisation, I'm certain Harry would'nt use all of the money available to him. Remember, he's a true 'wheeler-dealer' manager, he thrives on bargain basement free transfers and loan deals.

I'm sure once the new stadium is up and running, we'll have more revenue coming in from that, and that will help us. But we have a key manager who can mould a team from what appears to be not a lot. I love the fact that people seem to have instantly forgotten that we won the F.A. Cup. We're the only team outside the top four who've won it in the past 13 years. We beat United for god sake! Surely that's testament enough to the old chestnut 'Money can't buy you everything"?
